Munster Senior 2 Competition
Men’s Singles
In the Mens Singles Waterford had 3 entries Eoin Walsh (Kilmacthomas) and
Liam McNamara (Ballymacarbry) and Kevin Fahy (Waterford). Eoin beat Jaco
Dosthuyen in the 1st round but lost to Neil Moynihan in the following round.
Kevin Fahy beat Gio Gaudino in the first round; he then played Liam McNamara
in the next round. The game went all the way to the 3rd set and Liam just
piped Kevin in a tough 3rd set. Liam went on to meet Neil Moynihan and yet
again the match went to the 3rd set with Liam again wining through. Liam
then met Conor Hayes in the final and lost out in 3 sets to the Cork man.
Men’s Doubles
In the Mens Doubles Kevin Fahy & Tim Keogh lost out to Robert Patterson & David
Myhan. Eoin Walsh & Liam McNamara beat Cormac O’Connor & John
Myles and then played Paul Foy and Conor Hayes what was undoubtly one the
games of the day. The lads won in 3 sets to make their way to the final there
they played Robert Patterson & David Myhan. The lads still on a high from
the semi won comfortable in 2 sets to claim the Senior 2 title.
Eoin Walsh Betty Thompson Liam McNamara  Ladies Singles
In the Ladies singles there were 2 entries Rebecca Sexton (Waterford) and
Gemma Tobin (Lismore). Both ladies were on opposite sides of the draw so
a Waterford final was going to be an idea result, Gemma and Rebecca did
not disappoint, Gemma beat Marid Crowley and Aisling Ryan along the way
to make it to the final. Rebecca beat Sinead Flynn, Edel Broderick and Megan
Breden to set up that all Waterford final. The final was a cagy affair but
Gemma’s experience saw her through in 2 sets but Rebecca acquitted
her self admirably for her 1st Munster Senior final. Gemma claimed her 2nd
Senior 2 title.

Ladies Doubles
Rebecca Sexton & Niocla Morrissey lost to Eileen O’Connor and Helen
Twomey
Aoife Maher & Fiona Walsh lost to Breda O’Mahony & Mary Falwey
Trudy Kennedy and ???? beat Edel Brodrick and Ciara O’Conor but lost
to Eileen O’Conor and Helen Twomey
Gemma Tobin & Emer O’Keeffe won the first match but lost to Trish
Doyle and Michelle Hayes.
Mixed Doubles
In the Mixed doubles we had interest in 4 pairings.
Timmy Keogh & Aoife Maher lost out in the 1st round.
Niocla Morrissey & Aiden Walsh lost out in the 1st round.
Kevin Fahy and Fiona Walsh beat top pair Paul Foy & Caroline Hayes in
a close 3 set game, this was an impressive win for the Waterford pair. They
then came up against Liam McNamara & Gemma Tobin loosing out in a close
game. Gemma & Liam then proceeded to win through to the final and beat
Conor Hayes & Trish Doyle in 3sets 18-21, 21-16 & 21-18.
Munster Graduate Competition
Men’s Singles
In the Men’s Singles, Jason Tobin, Paul Casey & Gary Alcorn (Lismore)
and Mick Kennedy (Dunmore) were our entrants on the day. Michael Kennedy lost
out to Donie Enright. Paul Casey lost out to Gavin Chambers; Jason Tobin beat
David Burger in the 1st round but lost out to Ali Zain in the 2nd round. Gary
Alcorn beat Barry McCarthy and Donie Enright to make it to the semi final
but lost out after a close 1st set lost to eventual winner Mark Shaw.
Men’s Doubles
In the Men’s Doubles Gary Alcorn & Jason Tobin beat Declan O’Driscoll
and David Burger but lost out to Paudie Horan and Sean Murphy. Michael Kennedy & Paul
Casey beat Donnacha Maloney & Chris McCarthy but lost to Terrance Rumley & Ciaran
Malkin the eventual winners of the competition.
Ladies Doubles
In the Ladies Doubles Catherine O’Sullivan & her partner Caroline
BrownE beat Michelle Keaney & Mairead Egan & Kate Cullinane & Mairead
Collins to make it to the final where they played Ita Daly and Mairead Morrissey.
The final had a Dunmore feel to it as Catherine played against Mairead Morrissey;
Mairead based in Cork is daughter of Martin Morrissey of Dunmore. It was Catherine
and Caroline to win through in close 2 sets.
