Waterford County Badminton Notes 03/10

Brewster Cup
Waterford was one of five counties that competed in the Brewster Cup in Killarney on Sunday 7th March. Waterford beat Limerick 9-0 and Cork 6-3 but unfortunately lost 5-4 to both Kerry and Tipperary. The final overall scores were: 1st Tipperary - 25 points, 2nd Waterford - 23 pts and 3rd Kerry - 22 points. Munster Competitions
Four Munster Competitions took place last weekend. Grade 3 and 4 competitions were held in the University of Limerick. Cappoquin hosted the Grade 5 competition while Grade 6 was played in Lismore. Many Waterford players competed in the singles, doubles and mixed competitions and the winners and runners up are listed below.

All-Ireland Class 4 Semi Final
Good luck to the Waterford Class 4 panel competing in the All-Ireland Class 4 Semi Final in Galway on Sunday 28th March. The other semi finalists are Galway, Roscommon and Meath. Munster Juvenile Championships
The following Waterford players were successful at the recent Munster Juvenile Championships:

Interprovincial Teams
Trudy Kennedy (Ballymacarbry) was Waterford’s only representative on the Munster Junior Team that competed at the Interprovincial Finals in Dublin on Sunday 21st March. Munster lost to Ulster and Leinster and beat Connaght. Meanwhile Stephen Walsh and Conor Brown (Kilmacthomas) and Louise Sexton (Lady Lane) were picked on the Munster U-15 team which took part in the Interprovincial Competition in Dublin on Saturday.

All-Ireland School Competition
Best of luck to the St. Declan’s, Kilmacthomas U-14 badminton team competing in the All-Ireland Finals on Wednesday, 24th March. The team members are Stephen Walsh, Conor Brown, Jack Dee and Ryan Gallagher and the teacher is Emir Martin.
